Romans 1:22 (ESV): "Claiming to be wise, they became fools". They blindly trust big government.

I've not read Atlas in quote some time, but it is one in a line of many that has shaped my ideology over the years as well as my distrust for everything bureaucratic. The movies did a nice job of catching the essence of the book, albeit a bit cheesy at times. And when it comes to picking winners and loser, it's apparent that "the money trail" tells us all we need to know.

When the question arises "How do members of Congress get so rich so quickly?" the answer should be obvious to anyone with half a brain. Helping to pick "winners" is profitable. And in response to Michael's comment, we can thank W. Wilson and John Dewey for convincing our citizens that only "experts" should be making decisions about how the "Great Unwashed" should live.

Don't get me started on what a waste of skin Wilson was. There is a long list of horrible politicians to grace the halls of the Whitehouse and the Capitol building. Wilson is extremely close to the top of that list. There are several presidents between the end of the war of northern aggression and Wilson's occupation of the seat that are at the top of that list.

Forget about having a right to chose for yourself what is what. Products and services deemed "unhealthy" or "dangerous" for the population will, and have been, made criminal to have or use. Your own ability to choose for yourself what is dangerous or unhealthy is not good enough. According to the "experts" you don't have all the information or the ability to decipher the information even if you do have it. The "experts" in the government know what's best for EVERYONE.

Sadly, there are too many people willing to go along with this and relinquish control of their lives to strangers in DC. There are not enough of us who still believe in LIBERTY to make true change in the political structure as we have it now. I fear we are beyond the chance for We the People to take back control. And again, so many don't WANT that control in the first place.

A boat load of examples exist in Minnesota today. Tim Walz and his ilk, those that work in his administration, and those whose sole existence depends on the bureaucracy perpetuated by government, have lied, cheated, stolen, and killed, all in the name of government protecting us from ourselves.

The entire episode with ICE, where federal law enforcement pursued, caught, and deported, thousands in Minnesota specifically and the United States in general, was created because of the policies endorsed and implemented by Walz, those in his administration, from top to bottom, and the DFL. Democrat Farm/Labor Party, the current iteration of the Democrat Party in Minnesota.

The DFL has abandoned those from which their namesake is created. Farmers are penalized and slandered by the Democrats that live and rule in the Twin Cities Metro. the Labor aspect of there name were initially the Miners of the Iron Range, but these days are just the Union heads that donate the dues collected by every trade and more often than not involve no labor in the traditional sense, but public employee unions that offer no solutions or substance other than to perpetuate the bureaucracy that grows larger by the day and whose only existence seems to be finding ways to take more from the taxpayers. They offer nothing but threats and intimidation should anyone question their purpose or legitimacy.

Walz and company are taking credit for having chased ICE from the state. Truth is, they only made the operation, metro surge, last longer and involve more personnel because of their antics. Antics that cost two DFL minions their lives, but did nothing to dissuade the culling of illegals from our population.

Prior to all these histrionics, massive fraud was uncovered and those that attempted to bring it into the light of day were punished, fired, reassigned, or prosecuted by Walz and those in the administration. not the least of these is State's attorney General, Keith Ellison. A truly reprehensible excuse for a human being who facilitated the fraud in such a blatant manner that one has to believe he and his fellow felons believed there would be no challenge to their perfidy.

I'd like to believe they'll get what's coming, but that fiction is a tad too much to have any faith in.

Great assessment of the problem. What is the solution?

chad's avatar

Returning government to its purpose. Need to either elect people who will work on reducing government regulation and interference in our lives, eliminating a lot of the bureaucracy, or need to end the government and start over.

Respectfully, I think our problem is spiritual and well beyond a ballot box fix. I believe the only difference between Nehemiah's 1:4 Jerusalem and our NYC, is the former was smoldering ruin, and we are just in ruin. We need to humble ourselves in prayer & fasting BEFORE we rebuild our wall, and then WE need to man-up county by county, only instead of trowels and swords, God gave us our 1st Amendment Right to petition to hold ALL elected officials accountable to their Oaths (Sec. 3 14th Amendment). County Constitutional Review Committees & Republic Review.

That our problem is spiritual goes without saying. I thought you were asking about the natural man's solution. That said, in light of what the Bible teaches, I don't expect things to get better. I expect the world to continue on its downward spiral until Christ returns.

In the meantime, if we do want to improve our government in any way, those in office, as you stated, must be held accountable to their oaths. I've written about that as well: https://open.substack.com/pub/curetsky/p/i-do-solemnly-swearso-help-me-god?utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web

Waiting on the Rapture is the trick of the devil...the ten spies were ruled by the spirit of fear. God never has and never will do what we are able to do for ourselves and those we love.

I never said I’m waiting for the rapture. I just said I don’t expect the world to get better - only worse. I do not fear the world nor what is coming, nor should any Christian.

As for God doing “what we are able to do for ourselves,” where does Scripture say or imply anything of the sort? I mean, He isn’t going to come down and brush my teeth for me, but what are we able to do for ourselves in which you believe He will never intervene?

I'm sorry Chad, I didn't mean for that to come off as directed at you. It is directed at the same church Eric Metaxas wrote about in Letter to the American Church...the church is AWOL brother. I would turn the question back to you. Where in the Bible do you see God counseling men to sit on the sidelines and out of politics and standing up against wickedness?

Yes! Excellent allegory.

As for reading Atlas Shrugged... {sigh}... I need a few more lifetimes and second set of eyes!

Watch the movies (they’re available for free on Prime Video, if you have Prime). It doesn’t capture the content like Peter Jackson’s rendition of Lord of the Rings, but it captures enough that you can’t miss the message(s).

Thanks. Currently I don't have Prime. I only subscribe to one streaming service at a time. (at the moment it's Netflix's "turn")
