One of the first articles I wrote on substack was regarding the border wall and the Biden administration’s insistence that such a structure would be ineffective at stemming the tide of immigrants flooding into the United States: A wall is ineffective. In an almost satirical turn, I saw today an article stating that President Biden has authorized the building of new sections of wall along the Texas/Mexico border. Of course, he still claims walls are ineffective, but he is now waiving laws so that more sections of border fence can be erected in the Rio Grande Valley using money that was set aside during the Trump administration. Apparently, the government is up against a use-it-or-lose-it deadline to spend those allocated funds, so instead of sticking to his guns and refusing to construct the barrier (for which Americans should be thankful), they will disburse those dollars toward sections of fence to thwart the flood of migrants from our neighbors to the south.
According to Biden and his administration, his policy on the border wall has not changed. He is just acquiescing as he has been unable to get Congress to re-appropriate those funds for other purposes, and they can only be used for the purpose to which they were originally appropriated. As would be expected, Alejandro Mayorkas, who has done an unsurpassable job of failing to secure the homeland, is adamant that our border policy has not changed. In other words, putting up the wall doesn’t mean he wants the border secure; he would prefer to maintain the status quo.
It has been clear to many from the start that the desire of this administration (and others - yes, there are Republicans who are just as supportive of the open border, despite their many cries to the contrary) to flood America with illegal immigrants was for a purpose:
Bloat the voter rolls with (ineligible) voters who will vote in favor of government hand-outs
Blue the red states (like Texas and Florida)
Overwhelm the system so that an emergency may be declared and government could make attempts at further power grabs
Make no mistake, this is a government-planned and government-supported “invasion,” and despite the complaints of the “sanctuary cities” being overwhelmed by the few busloads some bold governors have dared transport, this is precisely what they want. Why? Further solidify and centralize power. That is the end game. The “best and brightest,” our governing “elites,” are bolstering their positions.
It is time for Americans, whom the government clearly despises, to stand up and say, “enough is enough.” Are you willing to be one who goes against the grain? Do you dare become ungovernable? If it doesn’t happen soon, it may never happen at all. Don’t just fight to build a wall - be the wall, the wall that confines government to its Constitutional authority and purpose.
Jim Geraghty noted in today's NR that the money being spent on the wall was money already mandated by Congress for this purpose. IOW, Biden's doing what he was obligated to do, not changing his position on the wall.
The Administration is talking out of both sides of its mouth here. Nothing has changed re its border policies.
Agree with your commentary. This Democratic Socialist Administration/Regime nearly Communist has as a goal to exact total compliance of every citizen. Every action taken by this POTUS has been wrong and soft reminding me of President Jimmy Carter. This move to continue with the wall is only to save face without an admission of guilt nor apology.
Everything happening with the Texas - Mexico border is just a rock's throw from my residence. Originally from North Dakota and have now lived 30 + years in the Rio Grande Valley which is deep South Texas has been an experience.
