There’s so much going on today, it’s hard to keep up, and I certainly can’t write fast enough to cover it all. I originally planned to write about a particular piece of pablum that came out of the U.N. back in March, but I decided it is simply a symptom of a larger disease, the root of which needs to be addressed. Hence, sovereignty.
Sovereignty is an interesting concept, and it exists at many levels. We can talk about individual sovereignty in terms of human rights and autonomy. We can discuss the sovereignty of God, which is a rather deep and contentious theological matter. Then there is political sovereignty, the likes of which applies to countries and other geographic entities. It is a combination of the first and last of these that are germane to not only the specific pontification published by the U.N. in March, but other broader issues.
Sovereignty in the United States of America generally exists at three levels: again, first at the individual level, then at the state level, then finally, at the federal or “country” level. There is no fourth-level imaginary throne sitting in the White House, no matter how many of its occupants may believe the chair in the Oval Office should have a velvet-covered cushion and be gilded. As the founding fathers wrote, “Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” In other words, the people, in their sovereignty, grant authority to the government to act on their behalf. This does not mean the people themselves do not retain their sovereignty - they simply allocate some to governing bodies.
Unbeknownst to most, those to whom the people have delegated some of their sovereignty believe they have the authority to further delegate that sovereignty - to foreign and non-governmental agencies. The Constitution grants power to Congress, and Congress alone, to author legislation which then must be enacted by the President. Not-so-shockingly, our (s)elected delegates eschew all things Constitution in their never ending pursuit of control and capital.
This brings us to the rancid rot I referenced in the opening paragraph. The specific sewage that spewed from the U.N. in March was called The 8 March Principles for a Human Rights-Based Approach to Criminal Law Proscribing Conduct Associated with Sex, Reproduction, Drug Use, HIV, Homelessness and Poverty. This is a report that was presented at an event held at the United Nations Office at Geneva on March 8. In it, the International Commission of Jurists lays out for us and countries across the world guidelines for how they should enact their laws:
In light of the above, the principles below are intended to offer a clear, accessible and operational legal framework and practical legal guidance – based on general principles of criminal law and international human rights law and standards – on the application of the criminal law to conduct associated with:
a) sexual and reproductive health and rights, including abortion;
b) consensual sexual activities, including in such contexts as sex outside marriage, same-sex sexual relations, adolescent sexual activity and sex work;
c) gender identity and gender expression;
d) HIV non-disclosure, exposure or transmission;
e) drug use and the possession of drugs for personal use; and
f) homelessness and poverty.
As an example, they tell us, “Criminal law may not in any way impair the right to: a) make and act on decisions about one’s own body, sexuality and reproduction – such as about pregnancy; contraception, including emergency contraception; comprehensive abortion care; prophylaxis for sexually transmitted infections; gender-affirming care/therapy” (p. 21). Where is the Constitutional compulsion for us to comply with the International Court of Woke™? We should not be signing on to anything of this sort nor taking guidance for domestic legislation from an unelected international organization.
We face similar challenges with agreements like the so-called “WHO pandemic treaty.” While the Associate Press has seen fit to “fact check” claims of overreach and state they aren’t so, barring further clarification, certain statements in the WHO’s Zero Draft Report regarding the treaty are cause for concern. They speak of recommendations concerning “the leading, coordinating and convening role of WHO in supporting Member States during a health emergency” (p. 4). Aside from the fact that WHO Covid guidance swung like a pendulum and consisted of highly politicized farcical fancies (masks? novel “vaccines”?) that resulted in failure upon failure, they should not be leading anything; never mind that, again, we are a sovereign country not subject to rules or regulations (or laws) stipulated by foreign entities. Pro tip: The Constitution does not give the government any authority to deal in health or medical matters.
In addition, the WHO pandemic treaty is adjacent to the International Court of Woke™ in that it seeks to impose measures to ensure equity:
Equity, including universal health coverage and equitable access to health countermeasures, and issues such as research and development, intellectual property, technology transfer and empowering regional manufacturing capacity during emergencies to discover, develop and deliver effective tools and technologies. While each of these areas are complex, equity is at the core of the breakdown in the current system and is ideally suited for negotiation under the umbrella of a potential new instrument (p. 6).
This socialist concept is already being espoused by our elected “elite”; we certainly don’t need foreign featherbrains foisting this fanatical fatuity upon us. So, while the Constitution does grant the government the power to enter into treaties, it does not do so at the expense of our sovereignty. There was, after all, a fairly significant war fought over Americans having to follow laws imposed by powers from afar, one in which those who penned the Constitution participated.
I could go on with an endless list of such interferences from foreign organizations, but these should be more than sufficient to expose our government’s dereliction of duty to the Constitution and our sovereignty. They only get away with this because most of we the people don’t understand the hierarchy of power and authority in our country, and we don’t hold our representatives accountable, especially at the ballot box. It’s time to wake up and remember, government derives its power from the people. We are not at the bottom of the hierarchy with the federal government at the top and the states in between. We the people are at the top of the hierarchy, then comes state government, and the federal government receiving its (minimal) power from we the people and the States. Educate those around you so that they comprehend this and can relinquish their mistaken understanding.
It is far past time we the people begin once again exercising our sovereignty and reign in the beast that has grown so far out of control. We must remind our representatives that they serve us, not their own agendas, not foreign nations, and not NGOs - they serve we the people, the American citizens. We are sovereign people living in a sovereign country. It’s time for our representatives to look after our interests and stop seeking to subvert our sovereignty.
None of our interaction with the WHO is through a ratified treaty. There will be no ratification of administrative or criminal law coming from them. If socialists want those medical rules they will simply enact regulations and make us sue in court for their constitutionality.
When you asked that question who is sovereign? the first thing I thought of was our Lord God and our Lord God only. Last I checked he is still on the throne my friend. We have no sovereignty other than what he gives us. But I agree, our rights just as humans beings are being stripped away everywhere. OH, We as Christians to be living in such a time as this!! We are witnessing the unfolding of revelation in a very real way. The beginning of the birthing transition. Let’s be ready! It’s going to happen fast, in the twinkling of an eye, be ready! Jesus is coming soon! (But I often think the holocaust events evoked the same question). One thing for certain it’s a fact and a promise we can cling to!!
