There is a phenomenon in medicine known as a paradoxical effect, wherein a pharmaceutical induces a reaction opposite that expected. For instance, a medication intended to sedate may instead cause anxiety, or a stimulant (like caffeine) may lead to sedation. It seems that a similar effect may have resulted from the feminist movement.
I’ll admit, I’ve never studied the history of the feminist, nor do I care to. Yes, I know a bit of the history regarding women’s suffrage, but I’m not running out to purchase a copy of “The Feminine Mystique,” and I don’t care for a breakdown of the differences between first-wave feminism, second-wave feminism, or tidal-wave feminism for that matter. Most people don’t need to in order to know that the feminist movement is (or at least started as) a movement intended to gain women equal rights with men.
Frankly, no one should have an issue with the idea of equal rights. We are all humans, created in God’s image, all bearing equal value. None of this should cause anyone heartburn. Where we run into problems is when we try to impose upon the idea of equal worth and equal rights the ideas of equal abilities and equal roles. Even within the sexes this is not realistic.
People are different. I will never play basketball like Michael Jordan nor golf like Tiger Woods. Chances are, you’re not going to wow the world with the grand unified theory that Einstein failed to conjure. Each individual is unique with unique capabilities. That said, despite all protests to the contrary, there are also differences between men and women. Yes, I said it.
There are obvious biological differences between men and woman, no matter what number of “genders” the Uranus crowd is trying to sell today (Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, everything else is from Uranus). There are differences in skeletal structure (whereby archaeologists can determine whether a skeleton is that of a man or woman), differences in chromosomes, differences in physical strength, etc. People can fight it as much as they like, but this is the brick wall of reality into which they will eventually run.
Back to feminism, the original push was for rights. Women wanted the same rights as men. Then it was for roles. Women wanted to hold the same jobs as men. Then, in an odd twist, it almost seemed as though women wanted to be men, or, at least, they didn’t want men to be so manly. Then they claimed, in abject absurdity, that they didn’t need men…but now I’m off track again.
This perspective that men shouldn’t be so manly, that the machismo of yesteryear was outdated and obsolete, resulted in the concept of “toxic masculinity.” All the while, women were trying to be men, and as it turns out, as a result of the feminists pursuit, men became feminized.
Not satisfied with being part of the “patriarchy,” men of the Uranus persuasion have not only become more effeminate, but have taken to wanting to be women. This desire isn’t however, limited to donning dresses and playing make over. It also isn’t limited to trying to alter their genitalia. No, they want now to play in women’s sports, invade women’s restrooms and take women’s jobs.
Beyond bogus breastfeeding, men are now succeeding in women’s sports in ways they never could in men’s. Where once they were mediocre competing against athletes of their own sex, they now trounce those of the fairer sex. They are being lauded as “firsts” in many places, but perhaps most ironic of all is that several of these men have, from multiple magazines and periodicals, received the “honor” of being named “woman of the year” in addition to having received other honors once reserved for women.
So, in a way, women did manage to gain equality with men, but not exactly according to plan. Now men are “equal to women” (or claiming to be them). More so, according to many (USA Today and the Miss Maryland pageant cited in the image are but two examples), men make better women than women do. Somehow, I don’t think this was the intent of the feminist movement. This may very well go down in history as a vivid, and somewhat tragic, case of “be careful what you ask for, because you might just get it.”
{sigh} It's all very tragic.
Can't we all just be humans?
My wife tells me all the time, women are their own worst enemy. Let me explain. With all the disparities in strength and ability in women’s sports, where biological men are now competing, injuring their female opponents, there are very few women publicly speaking out! When it came to the Dobbs decision, they were all over social media screaming about a woman’s autonomy. Albeit they were extremely misguided and access to abortion did not decrease, in fact in some cases increased. That’s another story. But where are all those women screaming about other women and girls being unfairly competed against by someone who has higher bone density, higher muscle density, and just plain larger? F-ing crickets! Hence why my wife says women are their own worst enemy. You wanna run a crypto company, sure, a woman can do that just as well or better than a man. But in my profession, pulling someone out of a fire or pulling a ceiling to gain access to put out a fire, or forcing through a fortified door with heavy tools, many normal women want a strong man to do that type of physically demanding job. The smart ones, anyway. There is no disputing the strength difference between an average man and an average woman. That is not to say if a woman is dedicated to a rigorous strength training schedule they won’t be as strong as a man. Much to the contrary and even stronger than an average man. But in my experience, in firefighting in New York City, most of the women are NOT dedicated to a rigorous strength training program and are in many cases a liability to the team. Hell, I know one woman who can’t even open up a difficult hydrant. That’s your f-ing job and you can’t do it?! This is the destructiveness of DEI programs all over the country and the world. We are just different, full stop.
