"Me too" - both sides blast me. I'm either some crazed Trump supporter or I'm some moron that doesn't see that Trump is the "only one". As you've pointed out, he has a lot of pros and cons! If he had fired Flip Flop Fauci at the beginning of 2020 he would have scored some credibility with me. Just because Biden is a thousand times worse, doesn't make Trump an angel.
Agree. It seems that neither side realizes that the best path is somewhere in the middle. Both sides have authoritarian leanings that, as a Constitutional conservative who leans libertarian, are very troubling. It's still that tunnel-vision thinking that either government can fix the problems government has created, or that one man can somehow undo decades (over a century really) of bad/unconstitutional policy, especially when that one man has shown that he too will support unconstitutional policy.
As I said, overall, the country was doing pretty well under Trump, and like the others, I would welcome a return to the pre-covid normalcy and prosperity. I don't, however, want to get there by encouraging further tyranny. One thing I forgot to mention in the article was Trump having said if he's elected again in 2024, he would take measures to *strengthen* (or broaden) federal power/authority. We don't need that - the federal government already exercises far more authority than the Constitution grants it.
How do you know it isn’t the ‘enemy’ drawing the comparison between Jesus and Trump? I personally know no one who thinks him messianic. (And the adherents of Obama certainly exalted him, so this is nothing new.)
It was just nice to have a time when we blessed Israel, employment was great, federalized abortion was ended, and there were NO wars. And that is just a few positives off the top of my head. In fact, frankly and historically, there is only one Savior for our present circumstances and it is interesting that, historically, the only time people turn to Him is during bad times (hence the present admin). I just am having great financial challenges which makes me grumpy. (Btw, I am pretty sure your example of Ramaswamy sp is, actually, connected and greatly flawed.)
Also, I actually like Trump. I admire that his children greatly admire him. And I do believe the hand of God is upon him. Of course, I KNOW that the hand of God is upon me. 😘🙌🏼😇
I know because of the people I have seen posting those memes and making the statements comparing Trump and his experiences to Jesus and His. It's not "the enemy" (though, technically, it would be), but it's the enemy *through Trump supporters*.
Again, I understand the desire to go back. We were, aside from the resurgence of racism in the wake of the prior presidency, far better off than now and than we had been for many years. I just think Trump's time is over and we need to move on.
I understand your opinions even while hoping that you will consider the value of and truth behind mine.
Must address ‘desire to go back,’ though. Absolutely not. False assumption you seemed to sort of pluck out lol. I only desire to move forward in the great promises ahead for us, in Christ Jesus.
Sorry. What I meant by "go back" was bringing back to the prosperity and all the positives our country experienced under Trump. Not literally "going back."
Two things from your article stand out to me. 1. you didn’t vote for trump in 2016? Wow buddy I must assume you voted libertarian because Clinton is and was controlled by Satan from what I can tell. 2. I don’t think we can blame trumps decisions at the beginning of the pandemic on a desire to create unconstitutional actions on his part. I think he was in very deep water being told lies by the WHO, NIH, and his advisors. He made wrong decisions but was led down that path by liars.
I also don’t like trumps bombastic attitude. I adhere to walk softly and carry a massive stick. But in 2024 if not trump then who? None of the others are likely to win and I cannot fathom another 4 years of the current idiot.
You are correct in assuming I did not vote for Clinton; there was no way I would vote for her. I did not, however, vote libertarian. I voted for another third-party candidate, one who knows and stood for the Constitution.
As for the "pandemic" (it, by definition, was not one), I can overlook whatever he did at the beginning since he does not have a medical education and was trusting the wrong people and receiving pressure from others. Giving *billions* to pharmaceutical companies, however, I cannot forget. Continuing to tout the shots to this day, despite all the evidence of their lack of efficacy and the harm they have caused, that I cannot forget either.
Right now, I don't know who I will vote for in 2024. I'm looking for a solid independent, but as far as the Republicans, Ramaswamy is looking pretty good. I didn't see the debate, and I heard he didn't handle himself too well, though I also heard he was a lightning rod for the attacks of the others on stage. That latter part makes me take notice. Yes, people have pointed out some apparent flip-flopping on his part, but I saw that with Trump in 2016 - part of the reason I didn't vote for him, not to mention his past registration as a Democrat and donations to Democrats. I didn't trust that Trump wasn't lying about where he stood on most issues and how he planned to handle himself should he be elected. I was, in many ways, pleasantly surprised. There was, however, too much disappointment in some of his actions (supporting/pushing red flag laws, the bump stock ban, unconstitutional spending in the name of "covid relief," and the list goes on). Right now, I'm cautiously optimistic about Ramaswamy, especially with some videos I've seen of him, but I'm reserving judgement until I see and know more.
Lastly, regarding the potted plant currently occupying the oval office, you don't have to worry about another 4 years of him - the Dems will never run him. No, I believe you should fear worse if the Dems win, because in my estimation, their most likely candidate will be Gavin Newsom. That should terrify anyone. You think the Dems have been acting like Communists already, just imagine what we'd face with him as president.
I, for one, have been a strong supporter of Trump. I do NOT believe him to be the second coming of Christ and am scared for those that are drawing ANY comparisons of Trump to Him. May God have mercy on their souls.
I watched the interview Trump did with Tucker Carlson during the republican debate (I watched it the day after) and was not impressed. Trump sounded more like a politician than ever before and his old entertainer self came glaring through. He danced around answering some questions and kept you baited to "tune in next week" for the answers to others.
That being said, IF Trump does end up on the ticket and there is NOT a viable option available, then yes, I will vote for him AGAIN.
My concern is for those that do suffer from TSS and what will happen to them if A) he is not the republican candidate or B) he DOES get reelected. What are they going to do when his term is over? They can't back him again for another term. I almost FEAR what path some of his followers may travel.
Usually agree wholeheartedly with you, but not so, here. Rather than go line item by item because I value Trump greatly (not as one who walks on water, but who has fought a war almost exclusively, alone) I will state this one factor that is my paramount qualification for our next president: that he not be an establishment candidate (ties to Schwab et al) and that narrows the field to... wait for it... Trump.
My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ alone do I worship and so do not think of continuing in that direction in any comparison with a mere man. I truly take exception to that. How quickly you and others apparently forget, though. Trump was put through the wringer and survived more than any person I can imagine. Every stinking day he arose with more sh-- over his head than anybody except one with a gallows as his bed. To this day, it is nothing short of a miracle that he even lives at all given the hatred for and bounty on him. Many of us remember that. I’m sorry you don’t.
Marylynn, I haven't forgotten how Trump was put through the wringer. I even mentioned how "unfairly" (I hate that word but can't think of another at the moment) he's been treated. His entire presidency was sabotaged, and he's suffered attacks from both the left and right for almost eight years. Trump isn't the only non-establishment candidate available, but it appears most think so. Funny thing is, those who like to point to the attacks on Trump as evidence of his not being part of the establishment are just as quick to dismiss those same attacks on a candidate like Ramaswamy. I'm not saying Ramaswamy is the best man for the job - that has yet to be seen. My point is that Trump isn't the *only* option available, and again, the presidency shouldn't be our sole focus. There is only so much a president can do - Congress actually wields more power overall, and the president has to get (most of) his agenda through the House and Senate.
It also disturbs me that people do make such comparisons between Trump and Jesus Christ. I neither made nor doctored the images in the article - those billboards are real, and those memes were made by people who do put Trump on the same level as our Messiah. That is, at the best, idolatry.
Chad, maybe the word you are looking for is "unjustly" rather than "unfairly". The level of persecution heaved upon Trump is unlike anything I can recall, at least in my lifetime. He certainly did nothing to deserve such treatment, and it has been PROVEN he did nothing wrong. Which is crazy in our justice system where the burden of proof is on the prosecution of his GUILT, not on him to prove his innocence.
Like I've said in the other comments, I am NOT one of the "ONLY TRUMP" drum beaters. And quite frankly, as you have mentioned a couple of times, he has failed to follow through on certain issues and has TOTALLY botched his promises on other issues. Trump was never my first choice in 2016. I voted for him in 2020 because he HAD done very well in the time had been in office and despite the things he did that I did not care for, but a big part of that was because there was nobody else on the ticket. (I know, that "lesser of 2 evils" crap when voting SUCKS.) But NOW, I would not be disappointed in the prospect of someone else being on the ticket instead of Trump.
BUT, as I said, the way they democrat party went after him on bogus charges, and continue to go after him, is simply UNJUST. I pray that the actions of those that weaponized our justice system on him will pay for their actions. And anyone thinking of trying such things again in the future will be forced to RETHINK those plans.

Less government, not different government. - There is my sound bite for today!

Can't say I disagree with you Michael.

Yes, "unjust" was the word for which I was searching. Thank you Michael.
