Many of you, like myself, may remember Captain Caveman from your childhood cartoons. Well, a new Captain Cave-man is here, and in the Senate, and he’s just as cartoonish.
Yes, after all the Democrat weeping and gnashing of teeth over the allegedly non-bipartisan budget bill, and all the copy-and-paste posts by Senate Democrats stating they would not sign the bill, Chuck Schumer caved and now says he will sign.
So what changed from March 12:
to March 13?
Nothing. Nothing changed. Schumer never had intention of shutting down the government. As I said in my last piece, if the Republicans didn’t pass a bill or shut down the government, the media would claim the Republicans are merciless monsters who want to rob people of their Social Security and Medicare. If the Democrats don’t pass the bill, the media will applaud them saying the Democrats stopped the Republicans, who are merciless monsters, from robbing people of their Social Security and Medicare. See how that works?
Schumer said as much in other posts:
Schumer knew the media would spin such a shut down to favor the Democrats, and he used verbiage similar to that with which the media would have barraged us. His grandstanding was nothing more than smoke and mirrors, bread and circuses for the masses. Schumer never had any intention of voting “no” on the budget bill.
The bill is virtually no different from last year’s 466-page consolidated appropriations bill (H.R. 4366) which, in the Senate, received a “nay” vote from only one Democrat.
All of the posturing from both the Democrats and Republicans is little more than Kabuki theater. While in times past, there may have been enough principled congressmen to actually allow a government shutdown over a bloated budget, such principle is rare today.
Massie was right to stand against the C.R., and he accurately predicted that the Democrats’ feigned opposition would quickly turn to support.
Despite so many Democrats repeated/repetitive (apparently intern-authored) posts saying they will vote against the bill, the budget will pass and the American people will be treated to another six months of out-of-control spending followed by another round of “we need to pass a continuing resolution so that government doesn’t shut down.”
The parties may appear combative in public, but behind closed doors, they’re shaking hands, patting backs, and laughing at the naiveté of the American people believing that any of them are fighting for us.
The uniparty owns D.C., and as much as Trump and DOGE claim to want to cut the fat, it’s going to be a difficult uphill battle (and Trump has already in the past proven himself to NOT be a fiscal conservative). So stop thinking along party lines, because really, the left and the right are two wings of the same bird, and that bird craps on all of us equally.
A "shut down" would be welcome. Followed by a wake up call of "we need to slash spending dramatically".
With all the teeth gnashing and pearl clutching, they are well aware that they (Dems) would suffer. In spite of media protection, the republicans are doing a much better job in public relations, as far as calling out the BS. What chucky cheese did is nothing more than political expediency. It’s not about anything other than remaining in power.
