The is an excellent article! It reminded me of a story told by Corrie Ten Boom on the subject of sex:
So the line had stuck in my head. “Sex,” I was pretty sure, meant whether you were a boy or girl, and “sin” made (Aunt) Tante Jans very angry, but what the two together meant I could not imagine. And so, seated next to Father in the train compartment, I suddenly asked, “Father, what is sexsin?” He turned to look at me, as he always did when answering a question, but to my surprise he said nothing. At last, he stood up, lifted his traveling case from the rack over our heads, and set it on the floor.
“Will you carry it off the train, Corrie?” he said.
I stood up and tugged at it. It was crammed with the watches and spare parts he had purchased that morning.
“It’s too heavy,” I said.
“Yes,” he said. “And it would be a pretty poor father who would ask his little girl to carry such a load. It’s the same way, Corrie, with knowledge. Some knowledge is too heavy for children. When you are older and stronger you can bear it. For now, you must trust me to carry it for you.” - from The Hiding Place: The Triumphant True Story of Corrie Ten Boom.
There are some countries that consider the US as prudish where the subject of sex/sexuality is concerned. I see it as that those countries are loose with their morals/morality. I remember having ASPECTS of the "talk" about the 'birds and the bees' when I was 7 or 8. BUT those conversations were limited in the DEPTH of the subject. There elements that my mother understood were TOO MUCH for a child that age to learn about.
It seems that children are losing their innocence at a much younger age now. They are given phones and iPads to keep them entertained. Left unsupervised with these devices that the adult(s) (I don't call them parents because they are as immature as the child a lot of the time) giving them the device didn't take the time to set up parental guidance safeguards on, the kids find websites that are TOTALLY inappropriate for their age. And even the so-called safeguards that are put up by the website are easy enough for even a 5 year old to get past.
I always say when talking about my own personal life lessons and being taught those lessons that I am INCREDIBLY blessed to have the mom that I do. I was raised by a single mother but she did NOT let the fact of our situation get in the way of me learning what I needed for life when it was APPROPRIATE to learn those lessons. A HUGE part of those lessons that was ALWAYS an element of them was to treat these things with the MATURITY that they deserve and to the level that I am being intrusted with the information. Can I make crude and twisted jokes about a subject? ABSOLUTELY, But only in the appropriate setting. (I was taught NOT to make those kinds of comments in a group like Bible study on Wednesday night).
I totally agree that these product should not be so easily accessible to children. There are many "adult book stores" that require you to be 21 to enter. Even at 18 you are still considered too young (in some states/counties) for these products. I can see cities like Los Angeles or NYC or San Francisco being totally loose with their morals and putting stuff like this in the storefront window to sell. But I never would have expected this sort of thing in a store in the southern states.
Do we really need more evidence that we MUST take back the reigns of our government and
reinstall the morals that this country was founded on?
Hi did you by chance have an opportunity to express why this is inappropriate to the manager? Our responsibility as sane adults and parents or grandparents gives us the express ability to tell the truth as you do. Maybe it’s my age but I think I would have expressed my displeasure to the manager. Maybe to result and maybe not. The division in our nation is not only political but it is a moral division as well. I am quite vocal in my anger at the political leftists who destroy this nation daily and it’s now time to vocally express our anger at the immorality of the nation. It’s not judgy. It is telling the truth.
Please don't give up or forget to make the case to the store manager. And if necessary, get the info for the regional manager. Asking for that tends to get the attention of the people you were asking for in the first place.
I'm with you on speaking up to the people that make these horrid decisions. Unless and until they are held to the fire for what they are doing they will not modify their behavior.
I remember a lesson in one of my management classes about "the good customer". The "good customer" never complains about the uncleaned bathroom. They simply stop coming to your place of business. The "good customer" doesn't complain or mention the rudeness of an employee that was out of earshot of a manager. They simply stop shopping in your store. The "good customer" never complains about ANY impropriety or slight against them by your company. They simply stop spending their money with YOU and start spending that money at the business that treats them well.
The issue with this lesson is that the offending company never learns of why the customers stop coming and in turn dont know that changes need to be made. Until people are FORCED to examine their actions through the critical lenses of the public, they will never believe that what they are doing is considered inappropriate or immoral.
That reminds me of ANOTHER saying that I learned along the way; the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
I am with you Chad - pretty disgusting - bringing the adult store to the mainstream family shopping - everything about is wrong and they too may call me whatever they wish - that does not change the fact that sin is sin.
1 Corinthians 6:8-10
New International Version
8 Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters. 9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
1 COR 5: It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife. 2 And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this? 3 For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus on the one who has been doing this. 4 So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present, 5 hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.
6 Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough? 7 Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8 Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11 But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister[c] but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.
12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you
This is yet another example of patently prurient product placement passively piquing children's interest in things they should not even be aware of until their (hopefully) late teens. Thankfully not in an aisle end cap display at a young child's eye level (I hope), but yet another dot in the galaxy of dots of depraved indifference to innocence that swirl around us. From more than a decade now of ED products displayed on television in ads featuring pastoral views of adult life from side-by-side bathtubs on idyllic hillsides to soft filtered profiles of romantic moments backlit by fireplaces to mothers fielding questions from their daughters about feminine hygiene products. To much less discreet displays of mass media merchandising that revels in revealing apparel with nubile teens who flaunt, taunt, and titillate teenage lust.
Don't forget lifestyle brands built on sexual imagery, like Victoria's Secret, Hooters, Sports Illustrated, K-Y, suntan, skincare, etc. Sultry and scantily clad goddesses goading us with gas guzzlers and gastronomic goodies. Carl's Jr. comes to mind. Dang, I want to hop in the Camaro and get a Superstar burger now. Why did I get hungry all of a sudden?
The point being that unless cloistered and coddled, children don't have a chance of retaining innocence beyond the bassinet.
I thought that stroker was an engine modified by oversize pistons and modified rods and crankshaft to increase the displacement and compression ratio. I haven't been in the USA for 13 years hence my naivete'.
God has started the destruction of the US. There is no other reasonable explanation for the evil that is allowed to perpetrate all around this country, and the world. The Old Testament cites example after example of when God let the Israelites suffer the consequences of their actions before he showed the the way, again, to have good outcomes.
I am of the mind that God is simply allowing the natural consequences play out rather that Him actually doing the destruction.
God has heard the voices of those decrying Him and PROUDLY denouncing Him. Now he is actually giving them EXACTLY what they asked for; a country WITHOUT GOD.
Those of us that have been faithful will be under His protection (that is my belief at least). But those that chose to exist and rely on their limited abilities, they will be the ones to suffer...until the start BEGGING God to save them. IF they are sincere in their repentance, He will hear them and give His grace.
That MY belief anyway. For all I know He may have decided that they chose their fate and will refuse to hear those foxhole prayers.

You know, I originally considered satirically mentioning something about engines modified for longer piston movement at the outset of the article. :)

He did this multiple times to the Jewish ppl when they turned away from him.
