great piece. Undoubtably true. The question is - what to do?

That is indeed the challenge, isn't it?

Chad, As you well know, I am NOT a fan of lincoln in th least. He was one of the greatest LIARS to ever be in DC. He has pulled the wool over the eyes of MILLIONS of people for more than a century. That being said, these words from him fall under the category of "listen to the message, not the messenger."

The alphabet soup in this country is THE source of ALL of our woes. The bureaucracies like ATF, FBI IRS ETC AND the leftist, socialist, communist rooted organizations (blm, lbgtqrstuvwxyz and such) are the ones that keep stirring the pot of discord. They are NEVER satisfied. Even in the past when yhey have gotten EXACTLY what they were seeking, they STILL demanded MORE. It took them a minute to make up new demands but they did.

The level of discontent among that element of society is astounding. And for SOME ungodly reason(s) they believe piling more and more regulations and restrictions on our freedom will make things better. This liberal logic, the oxymoron of the millennium, is what needs to be stamped out before all is lost for good.

I don't think they believe more regulations and restrictions will "make things better" for US - it makes things better for THEM. This is what I meant by government "for the bureaucracy." These regulations and restrictions keep them in power, give them more power, and often leads to their personal financial gain.

This reminds me of when Fritz Hollings (an "old school" democrat Senator from South Carolina) went off on a nationally televised news broadcast a few months after hurricane Hugo ravaged pretty much the entire state. FEMA was dragging their heels processing claims from the state. In part because there were SO MANY that were forced into living in a hotel or, if they were lucky, staying with family that didn't have their home destroyed or seriously damaged.

Fritz was doing a LIVE interview for one of the 3 big networks at that time. As they started asking questions he went of on a tangent saying, "FEMA is the biggest bunch of BUREAUCRATIC JACKASSES I have EVER seen." And yes, he did put extra emphasis on those particular words.

Well, in reality, FEMA should not even exist. The Federal Government has no Constitutional authority or mandate to aid people who have fallen victim to natural disasters. Such disasters are local issues and should be dealt with locally. There is a story called "Not Yours to Give" that details the interaction of then-Representative Davy Crockett and a constituent named Horatio Bunce who flat out told Crocket he would NOT vote to re-elect him. The reason was that Congress passed an appropriations bill for $20,000 to aid some families in DC who had lost their homes to a fire. While the cause appeared noble, Bunce rightly observed and stated to Crocket that it was "not yours to give." Government is not a charitable organization, and when they take from one to give to another, it is little more than theft, even if the cause appears noble.
