I would have lost it if I was in that court - either as the defendant, his attorney or someone in the crowd. I’d have stood up and yelled at her to vacate the court room as she was not a legitimate judge and if she didn’t I’d tell her I was making a citizens arrest to force her out.
Even better to be on the jury! I'd have pulled a 12 Angry Men thing and convinced the rest to vote not guilty - regardless of the merits of the case simply to send a ,message to the court that the judge was not legitimate and the defense was prevented from making their case, and that we the citizens won't stand for disregard of The Constitution.
I read this a few days ago and I had the same reaction. This "judge" is illegitimate. Our natural rights do not end in some activists circus...I mean court. And as such, she should be impeached and removed from the bench. But this is New York, and Mr. Dexter Taylor will be sitting in jail or have to pay an outrageous bond while his appeal slowly works its way through the courts.
Just when you thought you couldn't be surprised...
To outright claim that part of the Constitution doesn't exist in a courtroom, or anywhere else In America, is unjustifiable. The case needs to be fast-tracked to SCOTUS where, hopefully, the Constitution will be defended and upheld.
She basically provided fodder for a nice appeal…not that it would get very far in the 2nd circuit, but they have ruled against activist judges of late.
But in the meantime, damage is being done. Just like executive orders, and other national and state-level legislation, where they know they're violating the Constitution, but it has to work through the court system before it's shot down, and in the meantime, there is immeasurable damage wrought to our liberties and our society.

At least it would add to the spectacle….
You and me both, brother. I likely would have been held in contempt.
And it would be an honor.

If there was any doubt now it's clear; we live behind the 21st Century's Iron Curtain (and have since 2016).

Unconstitutional.
