So what generation started this? I cannot tell for sure since it is not universal among parents. I believe it really started getting bad when the internet began raising children.
Perhaps, though I would say it goes back at least to the sexual revolution of the sixties. Of course, throughout human history people have wanted to avoid the consequences of their actions, so it's not as clear cut as simply selecting a particular generation. It has, however, grown far worse in the past few decades.
The overall mentality today is to do away with taking responsibility for ones actions. The schools are teaching "safe sex" practices rather than telling KIDS what the consequences are when you have sex at such a young age. The teachings help add to the "I want what I want and I want it NOW" idiocy that is being pushed by the woke fools these days. I vaguely remember a story from the late 50s or early 60s, where a lesson in "proper female etiquette" was being taught. The lesson was about girls being on a date and their legs should remain TOGETHER tightly enough to hold a DIME between their knees. Now they are lucky to hold a basketball.
There are those too that are bailed out by mommy and daddy whenever they screw up, no matter how BAD that screw up is. That's assuming that there are 2 parents in the household. But, the hoodlum will act like the juvenile delinquent they are, be forced to face a judge of some sort, and be looking at a lengthy stay in a juvenile corrections facility, only for mom or dad to show up in court and show THEIR ass and be held for 30 days in contempt of court fir their atrocious behavior. And after the parents will wonder where their kids learned such things. I forgot to add; the mother was 16 when SHE got pregnant with the "at risk" child.
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, does it?
Sometimes, eventually that cycle does get stopped/broken. Sadly, it can take several generations before it does.
And part of the cycle (that I meant to but failed to mention in the article) is the victimhood mentality. That mentality, which is so prevalent today, is to some degree inherent (just look at Adam and Eve - Eve blamed the serpent, Adam blamed Eve), but also learned. If parents aren't teaching their children to take responsibility for themselves, they are teaching them instead to believe they are simply the victims of their circumstances.
The lesson that Adam and Eve were responsible for their OWN actions, and thus ALL PEOPLE are as well, was a big thump on the skull!
And SLIGHTLY off topic, or maybe it is more relevant than I am giving it credit for; I have heard so many people argue that the "original sin" that Adam and Eve were guilty of was listening to the serpent. When in fact their sin was going against God's Will and eating of the tree that they were expressly told by God NOT to eat from.
I guess it DOES tie in with the overall topic. Is acting on OUR will part of the original sin? If we are truly acting upon God's will, then our personal will is not fulfilled, unless you consider the option to NOT go against God's will as exercising our own will.
I realized after I posted the comment above that we were actually bringing two of your articles together in a matter of speaking. The topic of free will in the "Potter" series and of course the godless mentality of the younger generations today. For them it is all about THEIR WILL and that is the end all be all.
For those wondering, here is the commercial that inspired the article. It includes the statements (all by young girls): "I'm at risk of..." - Girl 1: "...having an unplanned pregnancy" Girl 2: "...becoming a parent too soon." Girl 3: "...or making a decision I'll regret later."
We all are if we are fighting up stream against the media narrative.

Please help me get out of this labyrinth. 😆

Great insight!
Thank you. 🙏
