So many people no longer adhere to whatever religion that their families were raised in or converted to. Instead of the war between Israel and Palestine being a war between the two entities, it's become a war of my feefeez versus someone else's feefeez.......

Ugh....war is always ugly and this one is so ugly on so many levels.

That's a lot to chew on. So it will take me some time to digest it all. 😉

In all seriousness, excellent supposition and explanation.

Had anyone asked, I would've identified people —the Jews— as the people who should be protected from these kinds of atrocities, not the land itself. Especially since the Jewish people do live all over the earth.

At the same time, having a land which had previously been theirs is more than okay with me, no matter how it came about. Their history is there, and all around that region.

People on the right side (not just politically, either) have a duty to care for the Jewish people, even here in the US, considering that Nazism is raising its ugly head. People can argue over whether or not protecting a country's borders is the same as protecting a people, and I would argue that it is.

Disagree with a lot of this. Yes, ethnic/religious Israel is sort of separated from geopolitical Israel...

...but Jews are not complete without the land of Israel. Even among the so-called "anti-Zionist" Chareidim this is more about timing than anything else.

Our prayers are full of asking God to return us to Zion and rebuild Jerusalem. The only disgreement between Charedim and say the Dati Leumi crowd in Israel is whether all of that is supposed to take place after or before the coming of the Messiah.

Real Judaism is Zionist. Not the secular Zionism of many of the modern state's founders, not the derogatory term that the haters use because they either don't understand or don't care, but the love of the land because it is the only place on Earth where reality meets destiny. We are not complete without the Land, without the Temple, without the commandments we cannot observe in the Diaspora.

What the world is doing now is reminding us of that. Many had forgotten what Israel means, even as a hope and idea, and are being reminded by their neighbors that they are not at home in America or anywhere else.

I would say the terrorist attack and the justification of it is not a left or right thing or a Christian non Christian thing. It is a product of the secularization of, not only the country, but the globe, as a whole and the propaganda perpetualized by those who benefit financially from endless war between the Jews and radical Muslim terrorists.

The attack is definitely not left/right or Christian/non-Christian - it is not secularization either. It is historic Arab/Jew enmity - https://curetsky.substack.com/p/why-cant-we-have-peace-in-the-middle . As for justification, I have only seen from people on the left (not that I've looked thoroughly, but I haven't heard nor can I imagine it from the right) any attempts at justifying the Hamas attacks.

If you want to see proof of "justification" from the so-called right, peruse Andrew Torba and GAB. While it is indeed aimed at free speech, it has recently exploded with large amounts of antisemitism and straight up Jew hatred from, again, supposed right leaning constituencies.

I did go looking a little, and I've seen several who call themselves "Christians" justifying the Hamas attacks and blaming Israel, buying the propaganda about Israel mistreating or oppressing the Palestinians in Gaza. I have also seen these same attempting to justify Hitler's actions and claiming he was really going after the "Joos" who were in banking, etc., that invisible "Jewish" cabal that is allegedly running the world from the shadows.

I say secularization because those who do not engage in the Word have no biblical historical reference of what the issues are from biblical times
