Thank you Chad. Interesting and thought provoking. I agree that we are here to glorify God, but hadn't thought about the fallen angels in the way you speak of them here. Something to really think and pray about!
While I was reading, I thought about my own "research" over the years, trying to have a greater understanding of my existence (I was hardly ever concerned with why anyone else was here whe I had no idea as to why *I* was here).
It was my conclusion that Satan had been cast out of the heavens because of his contempt for God and convincing the other angels to sing to him. Satan saw himself at the very least as God's equal and THAT is his sin. The angels that he led astray were punished for allowing him to actually lead them astray.
Reading what youbput together here has given me a new thought on the subject of angels and humanity. There are so many people that think so highly of angels and think they have "special powers" or are dominant over mankind in some way. When in fact it is entirely the opposite. We are actually above the angels in God's eyes because we choose to give glory to Him freely whereas the angels were created for the very act of praising him without the freedom to choose otherwise.
While the there are similarities that when humans or angles alike choose to not worship God, they are condemned. BUT with angles their condemnation is instant and permanent and can not be redeemed.
At the very least you have given me even more to ponder. BTW, I don't know if you have ever read "Letters from the Earth" or not. It is a collection of short and incomplete stories from Mark Twain that was published several years after his death. The first portion of the book is a story based on "letters" between Lucifer and the angel Michael. I would highly recommend it to anybody that has not yet read it. Keep in mind that it IS fiction.
Interesting and thoughtful perspective! I’d never before considered the similarities of the falls. Thank you.
