Excellent article.

As I see it, the problem is the perception of the people that they *want* socialism rather than adherence to the Constitution. The people have been led to believe that tyranny is a good and desirable thing.

Very astute. It goes along with my other recent piece about wanting the government to "do something." I've noted before (and anyone who watches old western series' like Gunsmoke or The Rifleman, or Cheyenne would see it as well), the government doesn't exist to take care of us - it exists to protect our rights and our liberty (a little of which must be sacrificed in order for government to do so). In the early days of the country, through the better part of the 1800s, there were no government assistance programs; there was no public welfare. Anything the government gives to one person it must first take from another, and that is not, as some may believe, playing Robin Hood - it's simply playing a hood, a robber. Robin Hood took from a corrupt government to give back to those from whom it had stolen (at least on the silver screen - in some of the actual stories, Robin Hood was simply a thief; in this way, the government now does play Robin Hood). What our government has become is that against which Hollywood's Robin Hood stood against. But people vote for it because, free stuff. It's always easy when it is, as my friend Peter Venetoklis over at https://therootsofliberty.substack.com likes to call it, OPM (Other People's Money). Why wouldn't those in need vote to recieve OPM? It only costs them their liberty; it only makes them dependents of the government. Otherwise, it doesn't (they think) impact their own wallets (au contraire). This is how people vote themselves into socialism and how a thriving society collapses.

There comes a point when that government runs out of OPM because those they were taking it from LEAVE. This leads to ALL systems falling apart, much like in the story Atlas Shrugged. The wealthy PRODUCERS of goids and services finally get fed up with having everything THEY WORKED FOR stolen from them and driven to ruin through regulations and just LEAVE.

What these fools that want socialism have been taught is that capitalism is the problem when in fact the problems come from the over-regulation of government that gets in the way of true progress and prosperity, FOR ALL.

The younger generations have also been told that it is okay to be lazy and dependent upon government for many things that government should have NO BUSINESS being involved in (health care, EDUCATION, wages). They are told that it's "the man" that holds them back when it is THEIR lack of drive that keeps them down.

If they get a GOOD taste of what it is like to not have government all up in their bizzness, lije the small taste they got when Trump was in office, they would change their attitudes quickly. Especially when they see their peers doing well. They too will want a piece of that American pie.
