The Twitter files: bombshell or bust?
To quote Hillary Clinton, “What difference, at this point, does it make?”
There has been much ado about Elon Musk’s decision to release internal Twitter emails and Slack channel discussions from the past three years or so. I don’t think anyone is unaware at this point, and many are following and reporting on it, so I won’t get into detail other than to say there have been eight file drops to date with varying posters taking turns tweeting the information. So far, what have we learned?
The majority of Twitter’s former employees fell on the left side of the political spectrum
Many Twitter employees were chomping at the bit for a reason to suspend Donald Trump’s account
Twitter “shadowbanning” was real
Political operatives were influencing Twitter to shadowban undesirable ideas and political opponents
Three-letter government agencies were directing Twitter to suppress information unfavorable to Joe Biden essentially amounting to government censorship
Three-letter agencies had employee plants within Twitter
The Pentagon was using Twitter for psyops
I’d say that’s a reasonable summary. How much of this is actually new information? At least the first four, if not five, items listed were at least suspected if not outright understood by many a long time ago. Granted, there was no explicit evidence that the FBI or other government entities were directly involved with, much less had employees working at, social media companies. That the FBI and Pentagon had employees and special relationships directly with Twitter is certainly revelatory. The rest? It simply affirmed that which many already knew.
Think about this: after the 2020 election, the leftist political machinery immediately started churning out propaganda to stem any doubt about the legitimacy of the process. Their apparatchiks in the mainstream media went straight to work plastering screens and saturating the airwaves with the claim that 2020 was “the most secure election in U.S. history” and that there was “no evidence of widespread fraud.” Yet in February of 2021, Time magazine published an article admitting there was a conspiracy to give the election to Biden. The title of the article itself was very telling: The Secret History of the Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election. The article discloses the conspiracy in a fair amount of detail:
There was a conspiracy unfolding behind the scenes, one that both curtailed the protests and coordinated the resistance from CEOs. Both surprises were the result of an informal alliance between left-wing activists and business titans. The pact was formalized in a terse, little-noticed joint statement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and AFL-CIO published on Election Day. Both sides would come to see it as a sort of implicit bargain–inspired by the summer’s massive, sometimes destructive racial-justice protests–in which the forces of labor came together with the forces of capital to keep the peace and oppose Trump’s assault on democracy.
…
Their work touched every aspect of the election. They got states to change voting systems and laws and helped secure hundreds of millions in public and private funding. They fended off voter-suppression lawsuits, recruited armies of poll workers and got millions of people to vote by mail for the first time. They successfully pressured social media companies to take a harder line against disinformation and used data-driven strategies to fight viral smears. They executed national public-awareness campaigns that helped Americans understand how the vote count would unfold over days or weeks, preventing Trump’s conspiracy theories and false claims of victory from getting more traction. After Election Day, they monitored every pressure point to ensure that Trump could not overturn the result. “The untold story of the election is the thousands of people of both parties who accomplished the triumph of American democracy at its very foundation,” says Norm Eisen, a prominent lawyer and former Obama Administration official who recruited Republicans and Democrats to the board of the Voter Protection Program.
It is rather ironic that the article calls very undemocratic efforts at securing (stealing?) an election “the triumph of American democracy at its very foundation.” Never mind that America is not, nor has it ever been, a “democracy.” I have already written about that, so I won’t repeat it here, but you can get a better understanding from these two prior articles:
The fact is, those on the left believe all that was done in order to prevent Trump’s re-election was a righteous effort, that installing Joe Biden as president via illegitimate actions actually saved the election. That laws were broken and voters were disenfranchised is irrelevant. The ends justify the means.
This matters little considering how government itself currently operates. The Constitution is regularly ignored. Did the government violate the First Amendment by censoring free speech? Absolutely! Do they care? Not a whit. Congress violated the Fourth and Fifth Amendment when they instituted the Patriot Act, as did state governments when they implemented contact tracing to (allegedly) halt the spread of Covid. Now the federal government can eavesdrop on you at a whim, and those Covid tracking apps are permanently part of your phone’s operating system and can be used for more nefarious purposes. Likewise, the government has been violating the Second Amendment for almost a hundred years (more if you count State governments’ attempted implementation of firearms laws) since the passage of the Miller Act in 1927 and the NFA in 1934. While those in government love to rant about “constitutional rights” (technically, there is no such thing - our rights are God-given and are only protected by the Constitution from government infringement), they regularly and unabashedly violate their oaths of office to uphold the Constitution. Which of these could show you where the Constitution grants a right to abortion? How about the right to health care? Equitable outcomes? These are the tropes trotted out by the interminable Trotskyites in Congress, yet none of these have a constitutional basis.
That then begs the question: Do you think that, if this information had come out sooner, perhaps prior to the 2020 election, that the outcome would have been any different? Not likely. Some who voted for Biden have stated that knowing about the Hunter Biden laptop story would have changed their vote. For others, the hatred of Trump ran so deep, it likely would not have mattered even if Biden had overtly made a public statement that he was corrupt and working with foreign governments to enrich his family at America’s expense. Would it surprise you to know that, despite the Biden Administration’s abominable (mis)handling of the economy, energy, and immigration, The Hill claims a December 14th poll has Biden’s approval rating at 44%? This is clear indication that some would stand by their vote regardless. Now consider the fact that a doddering, rich, old, white man who claims to be Roman Catholic (think of all the strikes right there in today’s social climate), who campaigned primarily from his basement, who could barely attract 100 people to an event when he did emerge into the sunlight, who has a proven history of lying and flip-flopping, and who could barely get through two sentences of a speech without intentionally insulting someone in attendance, making outrageously false claims, going off-script on some demented rant, or garbling his words so as to be incoherent at best, allegedly received more votes than any candidate in US history. In light of all of this, if the information had impacted people’s voting, would it have been sufficient to surmount the widespread malfeasance that transpired? Not likely.
So what are we to make of the Twitter Files? Do they provide bombshell revelations? In some instances, yes. Evidence of the government infiltrating social media to spy on, censor, and manipulate the public is treasonous. What will come of them? With a Biden Administration-controlled Department of Justice, and the rest of the unconstitutional alphabet agencies acting as Biden’s Stasi, I expect little if any repercussions. Yes, people will be up in arms - the same people who have been decrying these issues since early on. Perhaps we will see some sacrificial low-level lambs, scapegoats thrown to the wolves to sate the masses. We are living in a time where the people from whom the power to govern supposedly originates no longer have power. Government has come to believe power originates with, and flows from, government. The people are no longer citizens but subjects.
If you think otherwise, remember as has already been noted, Time magazine outright admitted that there was a conspiracy to “save” the election (from Trump) in February of 2021. Has anyone been taken to task for it? Have we seen any firings, any trials of those involved, or any justice whatsoever? No. All we’ve seen is a circus of a committee “investigating” the unarmed insurrection that occurred on January 6, 2020, instigated by agents provocateur, while security was intentionally lax at the orders of Nancy Pelosi herself. All that has been proffered are charges against Trump for incitement, when actual evidence (there are documented tweets) that Trump called for peace and for law and order to prevail.
So, "what difference, at this point, does it make?" Just like Clinton's deposition on Benghazi: none. All of this is little more than Kabuki theater meant to entertain and occupy the proles. Even if the Republicans, when they take the majority in the House come January, initiate investigations, subpoena bad actors, and submit charges for prosecution, it will all be smoke and mirrors, and just like an airplane in a David Copperfield show, will quickly disappear. As Shakespeare wrote, “it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, but signifying nothing.”
Nobody likes seeing how the sausage is made, and nobody selling the sausage wants you to see the adulteration taking place, or the lack of hygiene, integrity, purity, etc. Speaking of hygiene, there are no clean hands in this story.
Ha ha Hillary is counting on you not caring!!! She certainly doesn’t!!
