Sadly, the 2 most important things to most politicians is 1) getting elected and 2) getting Re-elected. They maintain the status quo by blaming the other side of the aisle for not cooperating then telling their constituents that they will "keep fighting for them" if re-elected. Neither of the 2 major political parties have any REAL interest in making progress to improve life for the citizens.

I wish we could do away with the party system completely and vote for candidates based solely on their values and platform.

We also need to set term limits for congress and senate. There are many other things that need to be changed but this would be a great starting point. Our Founders never intended for anybody to be a "career politician". The idea was to SERVE for a brief time then return to your life, whatever it was prior to your term.

Our system of government has been perverted to an extreme over the past 200+ years since the creation of this country. Greed and the thirst for power have driven politicians to basicly ignore the tenets of our Constitution and twist them to suit their own needs.

Our founding fathers never intended for elected officials to become "career politicians." Unfortunately, as you noted, once a politician is elected, that persons focus for the term of his or her office is getting re-elected. It's also been shown that the longer a person remains in office, the further that person moves toward the left. The ballot box was the original "term limit," but that no longer appears to work as intended. Now, even if politicians are finally voted out, the bureaucracy remains and is just as self-preserving as, if not more than, the parties themselves. It is truly a sad state of affairs.

The politicians have voted for their benefits and raises giving themselves more money and power than they were ever meant to have. I keep praying that the convention of states will actually happen and we will be able to undo the crap that has been done.

The big question is whether a "Convention of States" would actually make things worse.

You left out the third most important thing to politicians: making more money.

Few have the courage to vote against the hand that feeds them.

I totally agree, what is disheartening is what happened openly in the 2020 election- we did vote for honest change and they won but DEMOCRATS in power refuse to prosecute. What now, an insurrection? HA. The Dems made sure that is what it looked like. Good Grief......help me out.......your message holds truth but we are up against a formidable foe.

There is no doubt - the 2020 election was "stolen." The "conspiracy" was even openly admitted, and then rationalized, in an article in TIME magazine. Unfortunately, the left controls not only the House and the White House, but most of the bureaucracy. Shy of a revolution, not a band of selfie-takers wandering the halls of Congress, I'm not sure how we take our country back. I pray we can still make progress at the ballot box, but it is hard to trust that any election going forward will be "fair" or honest, provided we continue to have elections. I don't mean to sound all doom and gloom. I pray to God to change this country's current bearing, and I believe God answers prayer.

I believe a big part of the problem is the "conservatives" in DC (and in the rest of the country for that matter) have lost their back bone. They have become so afraid of being labeled as anything divisive they don't respond to the actual labeling coming from the leftists for simply exercising our 1st amendment rights. The right wants so badly to be the Righteous ones but the left doesn't give a flip about morality. The right is trying to fight "fair and clean" when they should be getting down and dirty and cutting the leftists off at the knees. The Mr. Nice Guy thing hasn't worked. The left won't know how to act ifbwe actually turn their tactics against them.
